About My Blog

As a college student it's hard to make time for things that I really enjoy. This is about the crazy, busy life that I lead as a student. I have a passion for many things, but my most loved activity is filming.

Chevron Baby Blanket

Hello lovelies!!

Long time no see. I apologize for taking so long to make any posts. The internet at my house sucks and when I got back in campus I got really busy. I'm here now though, so Yay!

This weekend I went to a baby shower for one of my oldest friends. She's having a baby girl, so of course I'm really excited. I've been into crochet since last year and I've gotten pretty good at it, so I decided to make a blanket for baby Lizzie. Everyone was surprised that I made it. They all said it looked store bought, and my friend said it was one of her favorite presents.

Here's what the blanket looks like. I got the pattern from here,  but I made some changes to it to make it my own.

Essentially this is the actual pattern t completely copy mine:

Materials
Use a 5mm hook
Worsted weight yarn (I used “I love this yarn” brand because it's really soft.)

Abbreviations:

Ch – chain
dc – double crochet
dc3tog – double crochet 3 together (this does not mean three in one. If you do not know what this stitch is here is a tutorial on how)
st – stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet

**NOTE: At the end of each row you will dc 3 times in the turning chain (last chain on the first row) instead of  doing the 3 dcs twice.**

Chain 142. If you want to make it a full size blanket increase in multiples of 14

Row 1:  2 dcs in 3rd ch from hook, *dc in each of the next 3 stitches, dc3tog 2 times, dc in each of the next 3 stitches, (3 dcs in next st) 2 times*; repeat from * to * across, ending with 3 dcs in last ch.

Row 2: Turn.  Ch 2. 2 dcs in first dc, *dc in each of the next 3 stitches, dc3tog 2 times, dc in each of the next 3 stitches, (3 dcs in next st) 2 times*; repeat from * to * across, ending with 3 dcs in turning ch.

Repeat row 2 until blanket is to desired length.

My pattern was 3 rows white 6 rows pink 3 rows grey 1 row pink and repeat. I started and ended with white.

I added a white border on the sides by turning the blanket sideways and stitching into the sides of the dcs with this pattern sc in the first hdc in the second dc in each till the end and end with hdc in the second to last and sc in the last st

Hello Lovelies!

So today I was given my test video assignment. I actually already finished it. Is that bad? Did I do that too fast? Anyway, here's a link to it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f1wkRZx2Mc

Also today I was "inducted" into the National Society of Leadership and Success. What a waste of 30 minutes. All I did was go in there and receive a T-shirt and a paper that said I have officially been inducted. But hey, FREE T-SHIRT!!!!!! I really enjoy free things, especially T-shirts. My entire wardrobe is pretty much just T-shirts and yoga pants.

Anyway, that's all the interesting news I have for you today. Go watch my video and be sure to tell me what you thought.

Goodbye for now!

Hello Lovelies!!

This was the last actual week of college classes for me. Finals start next week. It still hasn't hit me yet that I am actually almost finished with my first year of college. This year has gone by way to fast, but I can't wait for all the exciting things that are in the near future.

Firstly, I'm going to be getting a job with a little video production company in Hot Springs. I'm so excited to be getting a job that will give me experience for my future in movie making. This job isn't just going to be filmmaking though. The place is also a summer rental house, so my job will also include upkeep and cleaning of that. That doesn't really matter though. I'm just happy to be getting experience and to be getting paid for said experience.

Secondly, my family will be taking a trip to the beach this year. I've asked my boyfriend to go with me, but he isn't going to ask his parents until after graduation (so he'll "officially be an adult"). If he doesn't go then it will just be my parents, my grandmother, and me. Either way it's still going to be really fun. I love the beach, but at the same time I'm terrified of it. The thought of sharks possibly swimming up makes it hard for me to swim. Regardless, I will have loads of fun, whether in the water or up on shore playing in the sand. I think we have finally decided on our location (Florida). My mom really wants to go there this year. I've been trying to talk my aunt into coming with her kids and husband, but so far I haven't had much luck. I'll break her down though.

So even though I have a bunch of tests to worry about, I just can't bring myself to being worked up about them yet. I'm just too excited for the summer. That's my good news. If you have any cool summer plans I would love to hear about them.

Goodbye for now!!

Tanning Products are Ripoffs

Hello Lovelies!!

With my boyfriend's prom coming up in less than a month I decided it would be best if I started tanning. I can't wear a beautiful dress if I'm pasty!

Every day I go into the tanning salon they have some sort of new sale going on like 25% off lotions, or buy a lotion get a body wash free. As a broke college student I usually say, "sorry, I don't have the money for it right now. I'm just here to tan." I already have a bronzer lotion that I bought at Walmart for six dollars anyways, why would I want to buy a can the same size with less bronzing chemicals for $20?!

However, after plenty of research, and seeing for myself, I realized something that could be life changing. It will at least save plenty of money. My skin will get dark regardless of what I use. All I need is a lotion to keep my skin moist. I don't need some stupid bronzer product to lie to me. And everything in store you can find elsewhere for a much lower price.

In conclusion, if you are deciding to tan just do it. Don't let the sales people sucker you into buying products that you don't need or that you can find somewhere else cheaper. I hope you all take this post into serious consideration because I don't want any of you to waste your money.

Goodbye for now!!!

P.S. I get to see the finished product of my prom dress this weekend. I had to add sleeves.

Easter Weekend

Hello Lovelies!

I actually started writing this post on Tuesday, but I ended up getting busy and forgot that I was trying to talk to you lovelies… Oops

This past weekend was Easter, so I went home to spend time with my wonderful family. My boyfriend was in Branson with his choir and didn't get home until late Saturday night, so I actually spent Easter Sunday with his family.

Friday night I got into town headed home and my mom called and told me not to go home and to just meet her and my dad at Ross. She wanted to buy a new dress for Easter, but she ended up not finding anything for herself. I found a really cute white lace dress that I wore a peach jacket and matching sandals with. It was adorable but completely wasted.

Saturday I got up, and my dad wanted to go fishing, so we waited for my sister to get back from her Saturday class then went to the town where I grew up (an hour away from my parents' current house) and fished there. Most of my dad's family lives up there, so when we were done fishing we went to his brother's house. Two of my cousins were off at prom, so I didn't get to see them, but we ended up staying there till late. We finally got home, and it was after midnight. That is why the dress was wasted. We were so tired that we didn't go to church the next day.

As I said earlier, I spent Easter Sunday with my boyfriend's family. I went in my new dress because I didn't want it to go completely to waste. When I got there his youngest brother (he's six) was wearing the same color shirt as me, and their Mimi was joking with him that I was his girlfriend. I said "can't I be both?" That was a really fun day, and I always enjoy spending time over there. Before I left Ivan and I sat down in the big comfy chair for a little bit. We ended up falling asleep together. I think that was the best nap I've ever had.

So that was my Easter weekend. It was really fun, and I can't wait to go home again.

Goodbye for now!

Spring Is InThe Air

Hello lovelies!

It's a beautiful day here at college. I'm currently sitting under a tree enjoying the gentle breeze and wonderful spring air. I hope you all are doing well today. I just thought I'd give y'all an update since I haven't done so in a while.

I got to choose my classes for summer and fall on Sunday at midnight. (So technically it was Monday.) I'm an honors student, so I was one of the first to get to choose my classes. Because of that I happily got into all of the classes I wanted to take. I'll be taking one summer class because it's a prerequisite for most of the classes that I will be taking for my business degree.

I will have six classes in that fall. They'll add up to 16 hours of credits. I'll only be taking one class for my CMP major, and it's the worst class for that one. I've heard horrible things about two of the professors for it, and the only good one's class is at like 7 pm. So I have to take a course with a horrible professor. All of my other courses sound absolutely disgusting because they are about finances and other business stuff...GROSS. It'll be fine though. I'm pretty good at math.

So I only have one month left of college before my summer break. I'm so ready to be home so I can get a job to buy things for myself. I've been losing quite a bit of weight, so I'm gonna need the money for a new wardrobe. Maybe now that I can fit in normal clothes I won't cry while I'm trying to shop.

Anyways. That's all that's going on in my life right now. If you're doing anything cool tell me about it. I love to hear other people's stories.

Farewell my loves.

Hiking is hard, and boyfriends are fun

Hello lovelies!

So today my family decided to go hiking. There's a trail here in Hot Springs that leads to a "secret" but not so secret cave. So my mom, dad, sister, and I all went up it. The trail got very steep at the end. It was so bad I was practically crawling. That trip was really fun.

After that we stopped at the house, grabbed the puppies and went to play at the dam. Stupid me decided to climb all the way up that stupid dam. I tried to take one of the dogs with me and he got tired halfway through and I had to carry him up it. That was a very bad idea, but I don't regret doing it. Someday maybe I'll be able to walk up it without nearly having an asthma attack.

That being said, I've had a very good day today. Yesterday I got to go hang out at my boyfriend's house. I love getting to spend time with his family. His siblings treat me like I'm just another one of them. They're so fun to be around. I made my boyfriend and his youngest brother laugh hysterically. I was laying on my boyfriend and his brother was on top of me. I had a glass of water in my hand and needed to move it to my other hand, so as I was moving it I said "here, hold this." I also noticed at that exact second that I had just asked myself to hold something,  so the only logical thing to do in that moment was to thank myself. They got a big kick out of that and laughed for several minutes. Those two are my two favorite people in the whole world. I love them.

Now that that has been said I would like to say that I've had an amazing spring break, and it still isn't even over yet. I'll be sure to tell you guys more later.

Farewell my loves.

Girls' Nights and Canoeing

Hello Lovelies!

I told you that I would be telling you more exciting things over spring break, but so far I haven't told you anything. This is because I've been busy enjoying these fun things and because the internet at my house doesn't work very well.

Friday night I went over to one of my friend's apartments. We went out and got some pizza and redbox movies. Her son is sick, so I had to help take care of him. When we woke up the next morning his eyes were swollen and matted shut. She came over to my house that day, and gave her son to her parents to watch. We ran around Hot Springs and bought some Fat Bottomed Girl's cupcakes. If you're ever in Hot Springs make sure you get some.

When we took her home on Sunday we visited with family from that town. My cousin stole my phone and started taking pictures, so the only thing to do in this situation is to at least post one.

Monday we all went canoeing. My boyfriend came with us. We didn't do very well together because he likes to take risks, but I'm a scaredy cat. I told my mom that next time she'll have to be with him and I'll have to be with my dad because they were in the same situation. (My dad is a scared baby just like me.) We had a lot of fun that day, but we all got burned to a crisp. My sister is burned the worst because she had on the least amount of clothing. My cousin Tanner and his mom were both fishing. He caught a fish and begged me to take some pictures of him with his it.

Here are some pictures from that lovely day. The first is my cousin with his fish. The second is my boyfriend. The third picture is of my cousin Brittany and her father. The fourth picture is one of us getting ready to take off. Under that is my Aunt Kellie in her kayak. Next to those two picture is a selfie of me and my boyfriend. When I showed him that picture later he said "I look so badass in that picture." (Silly boy. He's adorable.) The last three are of my parents in their canoe and my sister and her husband on one of our breaks on the bank.

Overall my spring break has so far been very fun. I'm ready to go out and have some more fun family adventures. I'll update you again later this week.

Farewell my loves.

One Class, Spring Break, and Cancelled

Hello Lovelies!!!

Just thought I'd tell you how excited I am. Tomorrow I get to go home and spend ten days with my family and some of that time I'll get to see my boyfriend. He's a senior in high school, and our homes are three hours from my college. Next year he'll be going to a college that's only an hour away from mine, so I'll get to see him much more often.

Back to the subject of tomorrow... Two of my classes for tomorrow have been cancelled. If it weren't for the fact that the only class I have is giving a test then I would have left the second I found out my other class was cancelled.

Did you know that it can be cancelled and canceled. Apparently both are acceptable. Cancelled with two l's is really a proper British english where canceled with one l is proper American english. I'm not British, but I like the word better with two l's.

Anyways, my life will be a little more interesting during the break. My friend and her baby will be coming over for a couple of days, and one day my family plans on going canoeing. I'll definitely have to post some pictures of that. It's getting kind of late now, and I have a test and long drive ahead of me tomorrow.

Farewell my loves.

The Forgotten Post

Hello Lovelies!!

How are you all today? I've been doing pretty well today. I got all my stressful things finished with yesterday. One of those was a presentation that I had to give in World Literature. I'm pretty sure I did horribly, but hopefully my professor thinks it was ok. I'm not going to that class tomorrow because we're only doing presentations again. There really is no point in me going to that class.

I took a test yesterday too. I feel alright about it, but I know I didn't do perfectly. I also had to help three of my fellow classmates finish their filming projects that were also due yesterday. Two of them had just started yesterday and finished in an hour and a half.

Update: I was actually writing this post last night. I sat my computer down, so I could do my workout, and somehow I forgot that I was in the middle of a post. So all of those things I was talking in the beginning of this post actually happened on Tuesday.

Today I decided to skip my World Literature class, but I already told you why I was skipping it. Instead I'll be using this time to get some studying done. I have a test in macroeconomics tomorrow, and I am not ready at all. Luckily for me she allows us to have a full page cheat sheet and it can be front and back. But what if I need more help? I'm actually pretty good at being sneaky. I cheated a little on the last test, but it was only for one question. I might have to do the same again.

Anyways, I really need to get back to creating that cheat sheet. I hope you all have a beautiful, wonderful day.

Farewell my loves.

Stressful Days

Hello Lovelies!

Today is turning out to be one of my most stressful days ever. On top of my four classes I had to meet with both of my advisors. (Yes both. I'm double majoring and apparently I'm required to have one for each.) I also had a club meeting, I have several things due tomorrow that I have to finish tonight. Those include a film project, a 3 page essay, a presentation,  and a test.

I learned that I missed a quiz in macroeconomics this weekend. It was a "take home" thing, but it was due in class. Instead of taking notes in class I was working on that. After I finished that class I had to go to my business advisor. He treated me very rudely and I had to try my absolute hardest to not cry in front of him for making me feel useless.

Then I had to go eat a quick lunch, and finally allowed myself to cry. One of my friends saw me and sat down with me. She helped a lot, but almost made me late to my next class. (The professor was late too though, so it was ok.)

Then I was off to my room to work on my paper for a little bit, but I had to quickly stop, so I could go to a meeting at 2:15 that I didn't know I had until 1 o'clock. I took those few minutes to also go get some filming done for my project, and when I was done there it was straight off to my advisor for Creative Media Production.

That advisor was actually nice, and he actually helped me instead of just giving me a list of courses he thinks I should take. This one knows me better anyways, and I feel more comfortable around him. It was my first time to meet the other guy, and he did horribly for his first impression.

So the lesson today kids is don't procrastinate. It will cause you to stress out big time. But to be fair I wasn't even given a full week for the essay, and I've had just a little more time to prepare the presentation. That being said, this is the end of my rant. Because I need to get back to work.

Farewell my loves.

Oversleeping and Filmmaking

Hello Lovelies!!

How did I sleep in till 1:30 in the afternoon?! How did that happen?? I never sleep that long. It might have something to do with the fact that I was on the phone with my boyfriend until late, but that's still a very long time to be asleep. It didn't help that I had a super weird dream also, and don't ask what it was about because it was too weird and complicated to describe.

After I finally woke up I sat around the room for a little while and around 4 I finally left the dorm building. I learned that you shouldn't go outside wearing all black today, and I got some filming done. It's not really much, just a couple of shots of the campus student union and some strangers walking past the camera. (I could probably get in trouble for that second part, but I think it should be alright.) It's just going to be given to my professor for a grade.

Working with the camera is really fun, but I DESPISE having to lug that thing around campus with me. (Especially when I'm already burning up.) It's super heavy and I have to carry it AND the tripod for it. I was going to go out and film yesterday, but it was bleak and dreary looking outside. I'm so glad I waited until today to go film. It's really beautiful out. (Almost as beautiful as you my lovely readers.)

I was going to upload a couple of shots, but the website was giving me problems, so I gave up. Some day you guys will get to see my work. Don't give up on me.

Farewell my loves.

Sisters, Life, and Cake

Hello Lovelies,

I just have to say how proud I am of my sister. She is truly a precious gem. She is currently in Culinary school and this week she entered a cake into a cake decorating competition. She didn't win, but the point is that she tried her hardest and actually put herself out there. I don't say this to her enough, and it's not like she's gonna see this post, but I'm very proud of the wonderful woman she has become.

Growing up it was just the two of us. We were supposed to also have a big brother, but sadly he never made it into this world. We were both bullied all throughout school, so our only friends were each other and a few girls from church. I know that I'm younger, and the younger sister is supposed to be the one being looked after, but I've always been the one looking after her.

In her ninth grade year she met a wonderful boy who didn't have a good family life. They started dating, and my parents (they have huge hearts) took him in. He moved into my sister's room, and she and I shared a room from then on. Then they got married two days before they graduated from high school. It wasn't much just our family, his mom, and the preacher's wife and daughter. The next year for their first anniversary they renewed there vows out on an island in the middle of Lake Ouachita. It was beautiful.

Nearly a year later a couple of days after his 21st birthday the two of them went out and partied with friends. When she refused to ride home with him since he was drunk and it was an hour long drive home he left. He killed himself that night. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him, and I think the same goes for my lovely sister. She'll never say it though. Her new husband is jealous of a dead man.

I just want to dedicate this post to my sister. She's stronger than most people believe and she has the biggest heart. Here are some pictures from her cake competition. Her cake is the Mickey Mouse cake, and yes, that is her standing with it. (Doesn't she look so cute in her school uniform?!?!) She didn't win but she had some pretty tough competition.

Farewell my loves.

Friends, Grades, and Beanies

Hello Lovelies!!

I was going to make a post yesterday, but I got caught up in talking to one of my friends and fellow blogger. (We ended up talking for two hours.) I was also trying to make my blogs look better by designing them. I was almost done and ready to start a post and I looked at the time and it was almost midnight. I needed a shower and sleep, so I decided to put away the computer for the night.

Yesterday I took my second test in Physical Science. We already got our scores back, and I made a B!! I'm very excited about that since I pride myself on making good grades. I also talked to a friend here on campus for a little while. We had a nice talk. I only just started actually talking to her as a friend on Tuesday and I already feel pretty close to her. I love making new friends.

As for today, I was supposed to go out and get some filming done for my Multimedia Production class, but the sky looks like it could drop any minute now, and I don't want to risk ruining this camera that isn't even mine. On a slightly related topic, I'm going to start actually filming things soon. I don't know when it will be, but you should expect something in the future.

So I'm just hanging out in my dorm room not doing much of anything today. I'm currently in the process of crocheting a beanie for my boyfriend. He is going to Lyon College next year so I'm trying to make it say Lyon on it. It probably won't turn out well at all since it's my first time trying to make letters. Wish me luck! I'll send out an update on it later.

Farewell my loves.

Ugh College

Hello Lovelies!

So I'm gonna try to post quite often, but you have to understand that I'm not a very exciting person, so this might be a little hard for me.

That being said, I'm actually having a pretty busy week. Between tests and group projects and now trying to be more active with other people I have zero time to do what I want to do. 

I had two tests this week and I'm going to have two more next week. At least two of the professors allow a cheat sheet, so I don't have to study too hard for them. But the others are done completely on my own. Today's test was in World Lit. Not only is it that, but it's an HONOR'S class too. We've been going over a ton of poems in there lately and that man expected us to remember each one. Honestly I barely do the reading in there, so things are even harder for me. I think I did alright on it. I'll update you later with the results.

In other news, I nearly fell twice today. The first time was when I turned in the aforementioned test. As I got to the professor's desk my foot caught on my pants and I almost fell face first but caught myself before it was too late. The second time was while I was walking to my Multimedia Production class. The stairs in the communications' building are slippery alone, but the sidewalk outside is covered in sand to melt the snow that is gone now, and when that cakes to your shoes the stairs are a death trap. Lucky for me I was holding onto the rail at the time just in case, but I cut my hand on the rough wall. 

This was my day. Hopefully I'll have more fun stories to tell you tomorrow. And maybe someday I'll post something other than the life of boring old me. Thanks for listening to me.

Farewell my loves.

The Beginning

Hello Lovelies!

So I'm making this blog to give you some insight to the life of this crazy girl. If you're looking for college girl stereotypes you can leave now because I am anything but normal.

Here's some info on me. At the time of this post I am a college freshman. I enjoy crocheting, watching and making movies, cooking, yoga, reading, and making new friends. I hope that anyone who reads my blog becomes my new friend, but if you read the crazy things that come from my mind I understand if you decide you don't want anything to do with me.

Farewell my loves.
